    WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – It's a Top 25 battle for first place in the Mountain East Conference this afternoon as No. 20 West Liberty hosts No. 25 Charleston in an NCAA D2 Basketball Showcase feature event. Tip-off time is set for 4 p.m. at the ASRC.
    The NCAA D2 Basketball Showcase broadcast team of Darren Goldwater (play-by-play) and Leah Secondo (color) will be courtside to call all the action. Fans of the Black and Gold who can't make it to the game have a plethora of options to see the women's game.
    In addition to the online streams at MountainEast.tv and WVMetroNews.com, AT&T SportsNet Pittsburgh will also be carrying the game live to more than 2 million cable subscribers in the region. The telecast is also being distributed on a wide variety of platforms from coast to coast including: NBC Sports Chicago, the Cox Sports Television affiliates, the athletics Facebook pages of West Liberty, Charleston, the MEC and NCAA DII, the DII Twitter page and @NCAADII on Periscope.

    Coach Ben Howlett's 2-time defending MEC champion Hilltoppers (17-4, 12-3) saw a game-tying 3-pointer roll off the rim at the buzzer in a 96-93 loss at West Virginia State on Wednesday. Will Yoakum and Dalton Bolon tossed in 29 and 28 points, respectively, with Bolon draining a season-high 7 3FGs.
    The Golden Eagles (17-4, 11-4) were held to a season-low 66 points in an upset loss to Wheeling on Wednesday. Drew Rackley scored a game-high 26 points and Lamont McManus added 20 in UC's first home loss of the season.
    This is the 105th meeting between the programs. Charleston holds a 59-45 series lead but West Liberty has won 22 of the last 27 encounters. That includes an 83-73 Golden Eagle win in this season's first encounter on Dec. 11 at the Wehrle Innovation Center.
