West Liberty Men No. 9 in Final Coaches' Poll

Men's Basketball | 3/12/2019 6:18:00 PM

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Despite being upset in the championship game of the Mountain East Conference Tournament on Sunday, the West Liberty University men's team received a Top 10 spot in the final NCAA Division II coaches' poll for the 13th time in the last 14 seasons on Tuesday.
Coach Ben Howlett's two-time defending Mountain East Conference champion Hilltoppers (26-4) checked in at No. 9 when the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) released this year's final weekly NCAA Division II Top 25.
It's the 137th Top 10 ranking in school history for the Black and Gold, who have been ranked in every NCAA Division II Top 25 poll since Feb. 2, 2010. That run of 144 consecutive Top 25 appearances is an NCAA Division II record.
West Liberty earned its 10th consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament bid and will be the No. 2 seed on Saturday when the 2019 NCAA Division II Atlantic Region Tournament gets under way at the Kovalchick Center on the campus of Indiana (Pa.) University.
The Hilltoppers will take on defending champion and No. 7 seed East Stroudsburg (Pa.) in Saturday's 2:30 p.m. quarterfinal.
