DuBOIS, Pa. – The West Liberty University men's golf team splashed its way to a seventh-place finish here Tuesday as the rain-marred Hal Hansen Invitational wrapped up at Treasure Lake Golf Course.
Coach
Mike Ricci's Hilltoppers and the rest of the field had their opening round cut short Monday when heavy rains descended on the Western Pennsylvania layout, dumping more than 1 1/2 inches of rain on the course.
Play was suspended until Tuesday when the 11-team field returned to the soggy 6,747-yard, par 72 course to complete the first round before playing the second and final 18 holes.
Indiana (Pa.) took the team title with a 36-hole total of 590, followed by West Chester (597) and Millersville (599). Clarion and West Virginia Wesleyan finished in a fifth-place tie at 6009, just ahead of West Liberty's 613 total.
Junior standout
Sean Trapp was low man for the Hilltoppers, following up a first-round 77 with a 73 in the final round for a 6-over-par 150. Matt Cocorikis of IUP took medal honors with a 3-under-par 141.
The West Liberty men return to action on Monday in the Wally Edgell Invitational at Canaan Valley Resort in Davis, W.Va.
