ERIE, Pa. – The West Liberty University wrestling team dropped a 41-4 decision at No. 7-ranked Mercyhurst Wednesday night at the Mercyhurst Athletic Center.
The host Lakers got off to a flying start whe
n 3-time All-American and 2016 national runner-up Willie Bohince notched a technical fall in the 125-pound weight class.
Coach
Mitch Smith's Hilltoppers answered with a strong performance from 133-pound standout
Bryce Humphreys, who dominated Mercyhurst's Jeff Sisk throughout on his way to an 18-8 major decision.
The young West Liberty squad was unable to break through against the veteran Lakers the rest of the night, unfortunately, as the hosts closed out the dual by winning the final eight matches.
The Hilltoppers return home for another tough test on Friday when they host No. 6-ranked Notre Dame, last year's national runner-up. The first match is set for 7 p.m. at the ASRC.
