WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University wrestling team continued to showcase its excellence beyond the mat as multiple Hilltoppers were recognized on the 2026 NCAA Division II Men's Scholar All-American list, announced by the National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA).
A total of 433 student-athletes from across 64 Division II programs were honored for their combined success in academics and competition during the 2025-26 season. The prestigious recognition highlights the dedication required to excel at one of the nation's most demanding collegiate sports while maintaining strong academic performance.
West Liberty was well represented on the national list with 10 honorees:

The NWCA Scholar All-American honor recognizes student-athletes who have achieved significant success both academically and athletically. Criteria include earning All-America status with a minimum 3.00 GPA, qualifying for the NCAA Championships with at least a 3.25 GPA, or competing in at least four events while maintaining a 3.5 GPA.
Head coach Danny Irwin praised the group's continued commitment to excellence in the classroom.
"I continue to be proud of the efforts of our student-athletes! It is not easy to accomplish in any sport & to have double digit Scholar All-Americans again feels really good. Bentley, Parke & Neidigh have achieved this more than once which puts them in really elite company."
Irwin also highlighted the perseverance of senior Matt Englehardt in earning the honor for the first time in his career.
"The most excitement should come from Matt Englehardt getting it done. You just don't see guys accomplish this for the 1st time in their 4th year! However his relentless attitude towards his academics has paid off in a big way. He has helped so many put their name up in the history books because of how awesome of a teammate he is, but now his name will go up too!"
