WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — Coming off a second consecutive NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Regional appearance and another strong postseason showing, the West Liberty University men's golf team returns to the course this fall with a talented mix of veteran leadership and new faces.

Head coach Noah Seivertson welcomes a roster that includes seven returning players along with freshman Chatum Courson and transfer Cam Koegler. The Hilltoppers' returning core features seniors Ethan Cook, Justin Doerr, Tyler Sauric and Carter Stewart, sophomore Adam Gill and sophomore Isaac Depew, along with Koegler entering his junior season.

"Super excited for the fall season! Have some new faces in the lineup, mixed with good veteran presence. I think we have a really good team and I'm super excited to see what these guys can do this semester!"

West Liberty will be led by a group of experienced golfers who have already enjoyed significant postseason success. Gill headlines the returning group after a breakout 2025-26 campaign. The Wheeling native qualified for the NCAA Division II National Championship as an individual after finishing tied for fourth at the NCAA Atlantic/East Regional. Gill carded a 3-over-par 73-67-73 to earn one of the individual qualifying spots and went on to compete against the nation's top Division II golfers at Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nevada.

Gill finished tied for 94th nationally at 13-over-par, closing the championship with his best round of the week, a 2-over-par 74. Doerr also returns following an impressive junior campaign. The Wheeling native earned 2026 NCAA Division II PING Atlantic All-Region honors after posting four top-five finishes and six top-10 performances during the season. Doerr, Gill and Cook were all named All-Mountain East Conference Second Team following the 2025-26 campaign. Cook enters his senior season alongside Doerr, while Sauric and Stewart give the Hilltoppers additional veteran experience.

"Lot of talent in the guys returning this year," Seivertson said. "Obviously Adam played for a national championship last year, so we know what he's gonna bring to the table. Justin and Ethan are both seniors on the team this year and guys I would consider to be the captains of the team. They have been there done that in terms of college golf, can't wait to see what this year has to bring for both of them."

West Liberty also adds two newcomers to the roster in Courson and Koegler.

Courson, a freshman from Beverly, Ohio, comes to the Hilltoppers after competing at Fort Frye High School. Koegler, a junior from Wheeling, W.Va., joins the program after competing at Shepherd.

Both players made an immediate impression during preseason qualifying, earning spots in the opening lineup. "Some new faces to the team this year including one freshman Chatum, and a transfer in Campbell," Seivertson said. "Both showed up and instantly took advantage of their opportunity by qualifying for the lineup week one. Nothing but good things out of the new guys also super excited to see what this year has to bring for them both."
The combination of returning experience and new competition gives Seivertson plenty of options as the Hilltoppers begin the 2026-27 campaign.

West Liberty opens the fall season Sept. 3-4 at the Vulcan Invitational, hosted by California (Pa.) at Cedarbrook Golf Course in California, Pa.

The Hilltoppers return to action Sept. 14-15 at the Wally Edgell Invitational, hosted by Davis & Elkins at Stonewall Resort in Elkins, W.Va., before competing in the WCU Battlefield Classic Sept. 21-22 at The Links at Gettysburg in Gettysburg, Pa.

West Liberty then turns its attention to the Mountain East Conference Championship, set for Oct. 4-6.

The Hilltoppers close the fall portion of their schedule Oct. 25-27 at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory, N.C.
