ROANOKE, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's golf team sits in sixth place after the opening two rounds of the Dr. Wally Edgell Invitational on Monday at Stonewall Resort.

The Hilltoppers posted a 604 team score, standing at 28-over par through 36 holes. West Liberty opened with a 308 before improving by 12 strokes with a second-round 296. The Hilltoppers enter Tuesday's final round in sixth place in the 17-team field.
Ethan Cook led the way for West Liberty, carding rounds of 79 and 70 to finish the day at 5-over par (149) and tied for 26th individually. Cook's second-round 70 was the Hilltoppers' best individual round of the day.

Adam Gill and Chatum Courson are tied for 28th at 7-over par (151). Gill followed a first-round 78 with a 73, while Courson opened with an even-par 72 before posting a 79 in the second round.

Justin Doerr rounds out West Liberty's four counting scores, sitting tied for 44th at 9-over par (153) after rounds of 79 and 74.

West Liberty's individual competitors include Carter Stewart, who is tied for 61st at 14-over par, and Campbell Koegler, who is tied for 70th at 16-over par.

Glenville State leads the team standings at 3-under par, followed by IUP at 4-over and Bluefield State at 10-over. Davis & Elkins and Charleston are tied for fourth at 20-over, three strokes ahead of the Hilltoppers.
 
The Hilltoppers will return to Stonewall Resort at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday for the third and final round of the Dr. Wally Edgell Invitational.

West Liberty's six players will tee off from holes 15 through 18. Adam Gill and Justin Doerr will start on Nos. 15 and 16, respectively, while Ethan Cook and Chatum Courson will tee off from No. 17. Campbell Koegler will start on No. 18, with Carter Stewart also scheduled in the final groups on the back nine.
