Hilltoppers Drop Non-Conference Match at Salem

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's tennis team fell 7-0 to Salem University on Saturday afternoon in non-conference action.

Salem secured the doubles point with wins across all three courts. The Hilltoppers' top duo of Pablo Zubieta and Ethan Shepard competed at No. 1 doubles but came up short, 6-2. The pairings of Ignacio Giurfa and Austin Zgurski at No. 2, along with Barney Cowan and Chris Burns at No. 3, also dropped decisions as the Tigers took a 1-0 lead into singles play.

In singles action, West Liberty faced a tough Salem lineup that claimed all six matches. Zubieta battled at No. 1 before falling 6-3, 6-3, while Giurfa competed at No. 2. Shepard followed at No. 3, with Zgurski at No. 4, Burns at No. 5, and Aidan Lucas at No. 6 to round out the lineup.
