Ross Claims Long Jump Title as Hilltoppers Compete at Ashland Invitational

ASHLAND, Ohio — The West Liberty University men's and women's track and field teams turned in several standout performances Saturday while competing at the Ashland Invitational, hosted by Ashland University.

The women's team was led by an outstanding performance from junior Ky'Ara Ross, who won the long jump with a mark of 5.67 meters (18-7.25), finishing atop a competitive field. Ross also added a strong showing on the track, placing fifth in the 60-meter dash finals with a time of 7.90 seconds after advancing through preliminaries.

Freshman Lexi Wynn represented the Hilltoppers well in the 5,000-meter run, earning a seventh-place finish with a time of 20:09.51. In the throws, junior Sierra Davis placed eighth in the weight throw, recording a mark of 14.17 meters (46-6.00).

On the men's side, West Liberty showcased its distance depth with multiple top finishes. Senior Robert Allen secured a third-place finish in the 3,000-meter run, crossing the line in 8:35.61. In the 5,000 meters, senior Jasper Brown also placed third, posting a time of 15:51.04, while freshmen Finlay Lorimer and Shepherd Richey rounded out the top eight with seventh- and eighth-place finishes, respectively.

The Hilltoppers will compete in the Youngstown State University Multi Mid-Major Event next Friday and Saturday at YSU.
