1/21/2026 8:00:00 AM

PITTSBURGH, Pa. — The No.14 West Liberty University men's basketball team returns to the road Wednesday night, traveling to Pittsburgh for a 7:30 p.m. tipoff at Point Park inside the Academic, Sports and Recreation Center.

The Hilltoppers enter the matchup 13-3 overall and 8-1 in Mountain East Conference play, sitting near the top of the MEC standings, while Point Park comes in at 3-11 overall and 2-8 in league action.

West Liberty has enjoyed success in the all-time series, holding a 21-15 advantage against the Pioneers, including a 104-71 home win earlier this season on Dec. 6. The Hilltoppers have won seven straight meetings in the series, with the last road trip to Pittsburgh resulting in a 112-73 victory during the 2024-25 campaign.

West Liberty boasts one of the most explosive offenses in the country, ranking second nationally in scoring offense (97.6 ppg) and first nationally in bench scoring (49.7 ppg). The Hilltoppers have scored 100 or more points nine times this season and enter Wednesday on a three-game winning streak.

Ball pressure and tempo continue to define the Hilltoppers' identity. West Liberty ranks second nationally in steals per game (13.3) and first nationally in turnover margin (+9.5), forcing nearly 22 turnovers per game while committing just 12.5 of its own.

The Hilltoppers are shooting 48.9 percent from the field and average 10.4 three-pointers per game, ranking among the top teams in the MEC in both categories. West Liberty also leads the conference in assists (18.8 per game) and steals, while sitting second in scoring margin (+16.6).

West Liberty features one of the deepest rotations in the league, with nine players averaging at least 7.0 points per game. Jamie Muldowney leads the team at 13.4 points per game, adding 6.4 rebounds while shooting over 44 percent from the floor. Dante Spadafora (10.5 ppg) and Cameron Williams (10.4 ppg) provide consistent perimeter scoring, combining for 56 three-pointers. Myles Montgomery (9.7 ppg) and Peter Lattos (9.3 ppg) add efficiency and toughness inside, with Lattos shooting 64.6 percent from the field. Aiden Davis has been a spark from deep, shooting 50.9 percent from three-point range.

Point Park averages 73.1 points per game, ranking 10th in the MEC, while allowing 86.8 points per contest. The Pioneers rely heavily on perimeter shooting, averaging 10.3 three-pointers per game, led by Aidan Anderson (16.5 ppg) and Grant Welch (12.5 ppg).

Despite shooting 36.5 percent from beyond the arc, Point Park has struggled on the glass, ranking last in the MEC in rebounding (29.3 rpg) and rebounding margin (-9.9), an area the Hilltoppers will look to exploit.
