Hilltopper Women Set for Road Test at Concord Saturday

ATHENS, W.Va. — The West Liberty University women's basketball team continues Mountain East Conference play on Saturday, traveling to Concord University for a 2 p.m. tipoff at the Carter Center.

West Liberty enters the matchup at 5-9 overall and 2-5 in MEC play, while Concord sits near the top of the league standings at 10-5 overall and 6-2 in conference action. West Liberty is coming off a high-scoring effort against Glenville State, where the Hilltoppers shot better than 51 percent from the field and totaled 21 assists.

The Hilltoppers have shown offensive balance throughout the season, averaging 73.4 points per game, ranking fifth in the MEC. West Liberty has leaned heavily on its perimeter attack, connecting on 7.6 three-pointers per game, second-most in the conference, while also ranking among league leaders in assists (14.4 per game).

Anna Lucarelli leads the Hilltoppers at 15.8 points per game, while also contributing 6.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per contest. Jameka Brungard adds 11.4 points and 6.8 rebounds per game, shooting an efficient 56.9 percent from the floor. Ana-Isabel Andersson (10.4 ppg) and Olivia Baker (12.1 ppg) provide additional scoring punch, with Baker leading the team with 25 made three-pointers.

Concord enters Saturday's contest averaging 75.0 points per game while allowing 70.9, ranking fourth in the MEC in scoring offense. The Mountain Lions are strong on the glass, averaging 40.4 rebounds per game, and shoot 74.6 percent from the free throw line as a team.

Abbie Smith leads Concord with 17.5 points and 10.3 rebounds per game, while Kenyah Stubbs adds 14.9 points per contest. Concord has won its last two games and is 6-2 at home this season.

West Liberty holds a 39-25 advantage in the all-time series against Concord, though the Mountain Lions have taken the last two meetings, including an 81-71 decision in Athens last season.
