WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — Excellence in the classroom continues to define West Liberty University Athletics as Hilltopper student-athletes recorded a 3.16 combined grade point average during the most recent semester, marking the 15th consecutive semester the department has posted an overall GPA of 3.00 or higher.
A total of 310 student-athletes earned a GPA of 3.00 or better, including 94 individuals who achieved a perfect 4.0 for the term, underscoring the department's sustained commitment to academic success across all sports.
West Liberty's women's programs once again led the way, highlighted by women's softball (3.71 GPA), women's basketball (3.69) and women's acrobatics & tumbling (3.67). Women's soccer (3.61), women's cross country (3.53) and women's wrestling (3.42) also posted impressive semester marks.
On the men's side, several programs continued to demonstrate strong academic performance, including men's golf (3.51), men's wrestling (3.18), men's soccer (3.16) and men's basketball (3.08).
In addition to team success, individual achievement was prevalent throughout the department, with multiple programs boasting double-digit totals of student-athletes earning GPAs of 3.0 or higher, including men's basketball, men's and women's track, men's wrestling and football.
Reaching a combined GPA above 3.00 for 15 consecutive semesters reflects the consistent dedication of West Liberty's student-athletes, coaches and academic support staff to balancing competitive excellence with success in the classroom.
