WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – West Liberty University student-athletes once again demonstrated their commitment to academic excellence as 161 Hilltoppers earned recognition from the Mountain East Conference on the league's Spring 2026 Academic All-Conference Team and Commissioner's Honor Roll.
The MEC announced the honors on Monday, recognizing student-athletes who excelled in the classroom during the Spring 2026 semester. Across the conference, 1,610 student-athletes received academic recognition from winter and spring championship sports.
West Liberty placed 104 student-athletes on the MEC Academic All-Conference Team, which honors student-athletes who achieved a semester grade-point average between 3.70 and 4.00. An additional 61 Hilltoppers earned spots on the Commissioner's Honor Roll by posting GPAs between 3.25 and 3.69.
The honors spanned nine Hilltopper programs, including Acrobatics & Tumbling, Baseball, Men's and Women's Basketball, Softball, Men's and Women's Tennis, Men's and Women's Track & Field, and Wrestling. Leading the way for West Liberty was the men's and women's track & field programs, which combined for 56 Academic All-Conference selections and 24 Commissioner's Honor Roll honorees. Wrestling added 15 Academic All-Conference selections and 11 Commissioner's Honor Roll recipients, while the softball program produced 14 Academic All-Conference honorees.
The Acrobatics & Tumbling team continued its strong academic tradition with 15 student-athletes earning Academic All-Conference recognition and two more receiving Commissioner's Honor Roll honors. West Liberty Baseball saw 11 players earn Academic All-Conference distinction and seven recognized on the Commissioner's Honor Roll.
The women's basketball team placed seven student-athletes on the Academic All-Conference Team and five on the Commissioner's Honor Roll, while men's basketball added three Academic All-Conference selections and five Commissioner's Honor Roll honorees. The men's and women's tennis programs combined for eight Academic All-Conference selections and four Commissioner's Honor Roll recipients.
The MEC Academic All-Conference Team recognizes student-athletes who earned a semester GPA between 3.70 and 4.00 during the Spring 2026 semester. The Commissioner's Honor Roll honors student-athletes who achieved a GPA between 3.25 and 3.69.
