WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – West Liberty University will welcome seven new members into its Athletic Hall of Fame next weekend as the Class of 2025 is officially inducted during the 44th annual ceremony on Saturday, Oct. 4, inside the College Union Ballroom.
This year's distinguished class features Damon Brooks (Football), Cory Delguzzo (Baseball), Ed Garczyk (Baseball), C.J. Hester (Men's Basketball), Mark Johnston (Football), Lena Kalvans (Women's Basketball), and Hillary Southworth (Women's Basketball).
The day begins with a social at 8:30 a.m., followed by breakfast at 9 a.m. and the formal induction ceremony. Later that afternoon, the honorees will be recognized on the field during halftime of West Liberty's football game against West Virginia State at West Family Stadium.
Meet the Inductees

Damon Brooks (Football) – A big-play receiver and return specialist who still holds WLU's career record for kick return yards. Brooks finished with 23 career TD catches and more than 3,900 all-purpose yards.

Cory Delguzzo (Baseball) – A four-time All-WVIAC honoree and one of the most productive hitters in program history. Delguzzo ranks among WLU's all-time leaders in batting average (.377), hits (214), doubles (53), and RBIs (124).

Ed Garczyk (Baseball) – A catalyst for three straight WVIAC championship teams (1987-89), Garczyk remains the school's all-time leader in batting average (.381), stolen bases (77), and triples (14).

C.J. Hester (Men's Basketball) – The program's first 1,000-point/1,000-rebound performer, Hester also became WLU's first three-time NCAA Division II Academic All-American while helping the Hilltoppers to a 125-13 record during his career.

Mark Johnston (Football) – A two-time first-team All-WVIAC defensive back and WLU's first multi-year NCAA Division II Academic All-American. Johnston led the Hilltoppers in both tackles and interceptions in back-to-back seasons.

Lena Kalvans (Women's Basketball) – A dominant post presence and three-time All-WVIAC honoree, Kalvans piled up 1,579 points and 727 rebounds while helping WLU to multiple NCAA Tournament appearances.

Hillary Southworth (Women's Basketball) – A dynamic scorer and consensus 2013 NCAA Division II All-American, Southworth averaged 18.6 points per game across her WLU career and ranked as the nation's No. 2 scorer during the 2012-13 season.
With their induction, the Class of 2025 will bring the Hall of Fame's membership to more than 160 athletes, coaches, and administrators who have left a lasting impact on Hilltopper athletics.
