5/23/2025 5:45:00 PM

WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. — One of the most efficient scorers in NCAA Division II basketball history is now among the game's immortals. Former West Liberty University standout Seger Bonifant has been elected to the Small College Basketball Hall of Fame as part of its Class of 2025.

Bonifant's inclusion in this elite group comes as no surprise to those who watched his collegiate career unfold between 2012 and 2016. A two-time Basketball Times Division II National Player of the Year and NABC First Team All-American, Bonifant was the leader of one of the top Division II programs of the era.

A 6-foot-7 sharpshooter known for his precision, Bonifant remains the all-time NCAA Division II leader in three-point field goal percentage, finishing his career at 52.5% (374-of-712). He led the nation in scoring in 2016 with 893 points (25.5 ppg) and topped the country in made threes and three-point percentage the year before.

Bonifant's impact extended beyond individual stats. West Liberty compiled a 124-14 record during his four years, winning four straight Mountain East Conference titles. The Hilltoppers reached the NCAA Division II National Semifinals twice (2013, 2016), the National Championship game in 2014, and the Regional Championship in 2015.

Bonifant finished his career as West Liberty's all-time leading scorer with 2,289 points. He also shot 57.4% from the field, 85.4% from the free throw line, and added 806 field goals, 374 three-pointers, and 272 assists. He scored 44 points in his final collegiate game.

With his induction into the Hall of Fame, Seger Bonifant joins an elite group of small college basketball legends, cementing his place among the best to ever play at the Division II level.

The official Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place on Friday, October 31, in Lakeland, Florida.
