WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – After weekend match cancelations, the West Liberty University men's and women's tennis teams are set to return to action on Tuesday with a road trip to the University of Charleston.
The Hilltopper women are coming off a hard-fought 4-3 victory over Frostburg State last Tuesday. No. 1 singles standout Evelina Martirosyan continued her dominant form, extending her unbeaten streak to 9-0 with a commanding 6-0, 6-3 win over Alyssa Kush. At No. 2 singles, Omolade Aderemi delivered another strong performance, improving to 8-1 on the season with a 6-1, 6-4 win against Patricia Castejohn. The duo also combined for a win at No. 1 doubles, helping lift the team to a 5-4 overall record and a perfect 2-0 mark in Mountain East Conference play.
Martirosyan's impressive run earned her MEC Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors for the second time this season.
On the men's side, the Hilltoppers enter Tuesday's match looking to bounce back, sitting at 1-7 overall and 0-2 in the MEC.
