West Liberty Finishes 5th at MEC Spring Classic, Brogan Bennett Named First Team All-MEC

Charleston, W.Va. - The West Liberty Hilltoppers secured a fifth-place finish at the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Spring Classic held at Berry Hills Country Club. The team posted a combined score of +67, showing resilience with a strong back-nine performance of +23 after a challenging front-nine at +44.

West Liberty's Individual Performances

  • Brogan Bennett led the Hilltoppers with a +14 (73), finishing strong with an impressive 33 on the back nine. His stellar performance earned him a spot on the All-MEC First Team.

  • Justin Doerr followed closely with a +16 (74), maintaining consistency with a front-nine 39 and back-nine 35. Named  All-MEC Second Team. 

  • Jayson Beckner posted a +17 (77), displaying steady play throughout the event. Named  All-MEC Second Team. 

  • Eirik Lindholm and Noah Seivertson contributed with rounds of 79 (+20, +22), helping keep West Liberty competitive.

  • Tyler Sauric (IND) rounded out the group with an 81 (+33).

The MEC Spring Classic, a key event in the conference's golf calendar, played a decisive role in determining the MEC's individual awards, including Player of the Year, Freshman of the Year, and All-Conference Team selections. The awards factored in performances from five MEC-sponsored rounds, including three fall rounds at Cobb Course at the Resort at Glade Springs and the two-day event at Berry Hills.
