West Liberty Acrobatics & Tumbling Competes at Trine

West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University Acrobatics & Tumbling team is set to return to action this Friday as they travel to face Trine University.

The Hilltoppers (1-3) are coming off a competitive showing against then-No. 15 Duquesne, where they put together strong performances across multiple events.

Recap of Last Meet vs. No. 15 Duquesne

  • Compulsory Event: WLU stayed close in the opening event, finishing just behind Duquesne, 36.30 - 36.00. The Toss Heat stood out as the Hilltoppers matched Duquesne's 9.65 for the top score.

  • Acro Event: The 7-Element Heat was a highlight for WLU, posting a 9.25, just shy of Duquesne's 9.30. The Hilltoppers totaled 27.25 in the event, narrowly trailing the Dukes' 27.60.

  • Pyramid Event: WLU impressed in the Pyramid Open Heat, scoring a 9.65—its highest mark of the event. The Hilltoppers finished with 28.70, just behind Duquesne's 28.30.

  • Toss Event: The 450 Salto Heat was West Liberty's strongest in this category, earning an 8.40. However, Duquesne edged WLU in all three heats, taking the event 25.40 - 25.30.

  • Tumbling Event: Defending MEC Aerial Tumbling Champion Kayla Gandy delivered a standout performance, scoring 9.50 in the Aerial Pass—the highest individual score for WLU. Despite her effort, Duquesne controlled the event, 52.375 - 48.325.

  • Team Event: Duquesne sealed the victory in the final event, outscoring WLU 83.64 - 74.12.

Scouting Trine University

Trine enters the matchup with a 1-2 record on the season. Both teams are looking to gain momentum as they approach the second half of the season.

West Liberty will aim to build on its recent strong performances and capitalize on key scoring opportunities against Trine.
