Wheeling, W.Va. – After a one-year hiatus, the West Liberty University men's tennis team made a triumphant return, opening their season with a 5-1 victory over Washington & Jefferson at the Wheeling Park Bubble.

The Hilltoppers controlled the match from the start, showcasing strong performances in both singles and doubles play.

Singles Results:

• Federico Murrau defeated Nick Kubik (6-1, 6-5)

• Barney Cowan outlasted Jackson Akers (4-6, 6-0, 10-5)

• Ignacio Giurfa handled Abhinav Yarramaneni (6-1, 6-2)

• Austin Zgurski won against Alex Duing (6-4, 6-2)

Doubles Results:

• Cowan & Giurfa defeated Kubik & Akers (7-5)

• Murrau & Zgurski took down Clarke & Duing (6-2)

The Hilltoppers return to action next Saturday when they host Davis & Elkins at the Wheeling Park Bubble. The West Liberty women's tennis team will also open their season that day against the Senators.
