West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's basketball team returns to the friendly confines of the ASRC on Wednesday night, hosting Mountain East Conference rival West Virginia Wesleyan in a 5:30 p.m. tipoff.
The Hilltoppers enter the matchup at 4–4 overall and 1–1 in conference play, looking to bounce back after a road setback at Charleston. West Liberty has been competitive throughout the early portion of the season, averaging 75.3 points per game while forcing nearly 18 turnovers per contest.
Offensively, West Liberty has relied on a balanced attack led by Anna Lucarelli, who averages a team-best 16.9 points and 7.6 rebounds per game while playing over 33 minutes per contest. Ana-Isabel Andersson (13.3 ppg) gives the Hilltoppers multiple scoring options. Inside, Jameka Brungard has been a steady presence, shooting 59 percent from the field while averaging 10.4 points and 7.6 rebounds per game.
West Liberty has shown the ability to stretch defenses, averaging 7.5 made three-pointers per game, while also generating offense off turnovers at nearly 17 points per contest.
West Virginia Wesleyan arrives in West Liberty at 4–2 overall and 2–1 in MEC play, owning one of the league's most efficient offenses. The Bobcats are scoring 77.8 points per game and shooting an impressive 53.0 percent from the field, while holding opponents to just 65.2 points per outing.
Wesleyan's offense is paced by Kilah Dandridge (17.3 ppg), Emma Witt (14.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg), and Ana Young (12.5 ppg), with Allie Daniels anchoring the paint at 8.5 points and a team-high 8.8 rebounds per game. The Bobcats have also been strong at the free-throw line, converting at a 77 percent clip.
