WHEELING, W.Va. — The West Liberty University women's cross country team turned in a strong team effort Saturday morning at the Mountain East Conference Championships, finishing eighth overall in the team standings at Oglebay Resort.
The Hilltoppers were led by junior Lacey Dimit, who crossed the line in 26th place with a time of 24:49.44 over the 6-kilometer course. Dimit's steady pacing and closing kick helped set the tone for a balanced WLU performance.
Naomi Young followed closely behind, finishing 34th overall in 25:09.70, while Lexi Wynn placed 43rd (25:49.74). Rounding out the Hilltoppers' top five were Ally Hicks in 51st (26:30.17) and Katie Rutherford in 54th (26:35.29).
West Liberty's team depth was further showcased by Emily Dunlevy (27:06.59) and Gretchen House (27:10.56), who each contributed strong supporting performances.
Defending champion Davis & Elkins captured the team title with 32 points, placing five runners inside the top 11. Point Park (88) and Charleston (103) rounded out the top three.
West Liberty will now shift its focus to the NCAA Division II Atlantic Regional Championships, set for November 8 in Lock Haven, Pennsylvania.
