CLINTON, Pa. — The West Liberty University women's cross country team turned in a solid performance on Saturday morning, finishing 12th overall in a deep 19-team field at the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
Freshman Lexi Wynn led the way for the Hilltoppers, covering the 5K course in 19:03.5 to place 61st overall. Junior Lacey Dimit followed close behind in 65th (19:08.1), while first-year standouts Naomi Young (74th, 19:14.3) and Katie Rutherford (83rd, 19:30.1) added strong supporting finishes. Fellow freshman Gretchen House rounded out West Liberty's scoring five with a 92nd-place finish (19:43.5).
The Hilltoppers posted a team total of 314 points, finishing ahead of several regional programs, including California (Pa.) and Pitt-Johnstown.
Edinboro University captured the team title with 54 points, followed by Ashland (86) and Slippery Rock (92) to round out the top three.
The Hilltoppers will return to action on October 25 at the Mountain East Conference Championship at Oglebay.
