Frostburg, Md. – The West Liberty University women's basketball team suffered a tough Mountain East Conference (MEC) loss on Wednesday night, falling to Frostburg State, 103-72, at Bobcat Arena.
The Hilltoppers (5-8, 3-3 MEC) trailed 22-16 after the first quarter but kept things close in the second. Down 36-27 with 6:09 remaining in the half, the Bobcats (9-4, 5-2 MEC) surged with a 17-8 run to take a 53-35 lead into halftime.
West Liberty showed resilience in the third quarter, cutting the deficit to eight points at 60-52 following a layup by Anna Lucarelli with 4:26 left. However, Frostburg State responded with a 14-5 run to close the quarter, pushing their lead to 74-57.
In the fourth quarter, the Bobcats pulled away for good, led by Emilee Weakley, the MEC's leading scorer, who dropped a game-high 34 points.

The Hilltoppers will look to bounce back on Saturday when they host Fairmont State at the ASRC. Tip-off is set for 2 p.m.
