West Liberty, W.Va. – West Liberty University's standout wrestler Alec Cook has been named the Mountain East Conference (MEC) Wrestler of the Week, an honor presented by The Health Plan.

Competing at 165 pounds, the graduate student from Weirton, W.Va., delivered an exceptional performance on Saturday at the Fairmont State Open. Cook showcased his dominance throughout the tournament, winning four consecutive matches in impressive fashion:

• Opening Match: Secured a pin at 2:06.

• Quarterfinal: Claimed a decisive 17-1 tech fall victory.

• Semifinal: Powered through with a 15-3 major decision.

• Championship: Clinched the title with a solid 5-1 decision.

Cook's success on the mat has been a key highlight for the Hilltoppers, who are preparing to take on their next challenge. He and his teammates will head to Indianapolis, Ind., this weekend to compete in the NWCA National Duals.

This honor reflects Cook's hard work and consistency as he continues to excel both individually and as a leader for West Liberty's wrestling program.
