Glenville, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's basketball team faced a tough challenge on Saturday, falling to Glenville State, 98-73, in Mountain East Conference (MEC) action at the Waco Center.
The loss dropped the Hilltoppers to 5-11 overall and 3-6 in the MEC, while Glenville State improved to 12-4 overall and 7-2 in conference play.
West Liberty trailed by just two points after the first quarter, 18-16, but the momentum shifted early in the second as Glenville State launched a 12-0 run, building a commanding 43-29 halftime lead. The Pioneers extended their dominance in the third quarter, stretching their advantage to as many as 32 points.
Despite the loss, the Hilltoppers saw strong performances from several players. Anna Lucarelli led the team with 14 points, while Bailee Smith and Natalija Sekulovska added 13 and 12 points, respectively.
Looking Ahead
West Liberty continues their road stretch on Wednesday at 5:30 p.m., when they visit Point Park University.
