West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's soccer team announced their 2024 schedule on Friday afternoon featuring four non-conference games and 14 MEC games making up the slate. Highlighting the schedule will be a pair of league match-ups against NCAA Sweet 16 participant and MEC regular season and tournament champions, Charleston. In conference play the Hilltoppers will also play two games against new MEC foe Point Park as they play their inaugural season in the league.
The 2024 season kicks-off on the road in Columbus, Ohio, as West Liberty will play a non-conference match at Ohio Dominican on September 5. Then a few days later Mountain East Conference play will get underway in the home opener at the West Family Athletic Complex as the Hilltoppers host Davis & Elkins on September 8.
WLU will play a pair of road league match-ups at Concord and first-year MEC foe Point Park on September 11 and 15 respectively, before returning to the hilltop for a non-conference match against California (PA) on September 18.
The Black & Gold will travel to Salem for the first of two non-league games against the Tigers on September 22 as SU enters their second year of a non-conference schedule agreement with the MEC. The Hilltoppers return to MEC play on September 25 when they host Frostburg State, and they will then close out the first month of the season on September 28 as they visit Wheeling.
West Liberty will begin the month of October at home against Charleston on October 2 before returning to the road to face West Virginia Wesleyan on October 6. The Hilltoppers final non-conference match will be a mid-week contest at the West Family Athletic Complex against Salem on October 9. WLU will be off for a week until they return to action with a pair of road games at Davis & Elkins and Frostburg State on October 16 and 19 respectively.
The Hilltoppers will wrap up the season with four of their final five contests played at home, starting with games against Concord and Point Park on the hilltop on October 23 and 27 respectively before ending the month at Charleston on October 30. The regular season ends with a pair of November home matches against West Virginia Wesleyan and Wheeling on November 3 and 6.
The Mountain East Conference Tournament will feature six teams, with the top-2 teams receiving first round byes in the bracket. First round games will be played on November 10, the semifinals on November 13, and the championship on November 17. All games will be played on the campus of the highest seeded team in the respective match-ups.
