WLU Track & Field Continues Outdoor Season at Stan Romanoski Open and Amy Adams Memorial Invitational

West Liberty, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's and women's track & field teams enter the second weekend of outdoor competition by sending athletes to both the Stan Romanoski Open, hosted by West Virginia University, and the Amy Adams Memorial Invitational, hosted by Muskingum University. The majority of both team's athletes will travel to Morgantown where action will begin at 10 a.m. on both Friday and Saturday at the Mylan Park Track and Field Complex, while women's throwers will travel to New Concord, Ohio, where competition will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.

  • Location: Morgantown, West Virginia (Mylan Park Track and Field Complex)
  • Start Time: Field events start at 10 a.m. on Friday and Saturday while running events start at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
MEET DETAILS – AMY ADAMS MEMORIAL INVITATIONAL
  • Location: New Concord, Ohio (Johnson Family Track)
  • Start Time: Field events start at 3 p.m. on Friday and 11 a.m. on Saturday.
WEST LIBERTY MEN'S TRACK & FIELD STORYLINES
  • Tavian Richardson and Francis Toohey both rank within the top-10 of the MEC in the 400m dash, posting times of 51.26 and 52.14 at the Bethany Invitational to rank fifth and eighth respectively.
  • Philip White holds the top time in the conference in both the 1,500m run and the 10,000m run as he recorded times of 3:58.57 and 31:42.25 at the Charlotte 49er Classic this past weekend.
  • Robert Allen also competed at the Charlotte 49er Classic this past weekend and ranks fifth in the league in the 10,000m run with a time of 32:28.48.
  • The Hilltoppers have three athletes within the top-10 of the 110m hurdles after the Bethany Invitational as Mikhi Anderson is second in the MEC (14.73), George Donovic is seventh (16.93), and AJ Cherico is tenth (22.53).
  • After winning the shot put event this past weekend at the Bethany Invitational, Joshua Fancher ranks third in the conference with a mark of 14.91m (48' 11"). Sitting just outside the top-10 at 11th in the league is Aidan Horan who posted a throw of 11.83m (38' 9.75").
  • Fancher also holds a top-5 spot on the league's performance list in the discus with a mark of 41.42m (135' 11") that puts him fourth in the conference. Mason Fraley rounds out the top-10 in the event with a throw of 35.93m (117' 10") at the Bethany Invitational.
  • John Brown won the hammer throw at the Bethany Invitational with a career-best mark of 47.33m (155' 3"), giving him the top mark in the MEC. He is joined in the top-10 of the event in the conference by Fancher who is fifth (45.07m (147' 10")) and Fraley who is tenth (38.93m (127' 9")).
  • Horan notched the best throw by a Hilltopper in the javelin at the Bethany Invitational as he is fourth in the league with a mark of 34.48m (113' 1") while four other WLU athletes round out the top-10 on the conference performance list. Jonathan Stout ranks seventh (25.90m (85' 0")), John Henderson is eighth (24.68m (81' 0")), Jacob Huffman is ninth (23.16m (76' 0")), and Malachi Stewart is tenth (22.41m (73' 6")).
WEST LIBERTY WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD STORYLINES
  • Abbe Stackpole ranks within the top-10 of the MEC performance list in both the 100m and 200m dash, posting times of 13.14 and 27.49 for fourth and sixth best in the conference at the Bethany Invitational.
  • Lacey Dimit ranks seventh in the conference in the 400m dash with a time of 1:04.92 at the Bethany Invitational.
  • Morgan Lesnansky cracked the top-5 of the league performance list in the 10,000m run following the Bethany Invitational where she crossed the line in a time of 41:12.08.
  • Sierra Davis and Kaylee Savage are tied for the eighth best throw in the shot put in the MEC with marks of 10.50m (34' 8.25") at the Bethany Invitational.
  • WLU holds the top-3 marks in the conference in the discus, led by Davis who won the event at the Bethany Invitational with a throw of 42.69m (140' 1") this past weekend. She is joined by Kennedy Martin (40.11m (131' 7")) and Adriana Fazzini (39.77m (130' 6")). Catherine Neely rounds out the top-10 in the league with a mark of 29.97m (98' 4").
  • West Liberty also has four athletes who rank within the top-10 of the hammer throw in the MEC, led by Savage who notched a mark of 36.73m (120' 6") at the Bethany Invitational. She is joined by Fazzini who is eighth (35.46m (116' 4")), Davis who is ninth (34.40m (112' 10")), and Katie Hill who is tenth (33.83m (111' 0")).
  • Zayne Brakeall ranks seventh in the conference with a javelin throw of 25.09m (82' 4") at the Bethany Invitational.
