Lanham and Patterson Notch School Records on Final Day in Youngstown

Youngstown, Ohio – The West Liberty University track & field teams posted seven top-5 finishes on the final day of the YSU Mid Major Invitational on Saturday while also seeing a pair of school records fall. On the men's side, Hunter Patterson re-broke his record in the 200m dash while Sierra Lanham broke the women's 200m dash record.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED – WLU MEN'S TRACK & FIELD
  • In the first heptathlon event of the day, Shane Anderson and Jacob Huffman posted ninth and tenth place finishes in the pole vault with marks of 2.95m (9' 8.00") and 2.55m (8' 4.25").
  • Joshua Fancher notched a top-5 finish in the shot put with a season-best throw of 15.97m (52' 4.75").
  • Quinn Ashbrooke was the highest finishing WLU athlete in the triple jump with a mark of 12.00m (39' 4.50") for 16th place.
  • Finishing just outside the top-10 in 11th in place in the high jump was George Donovic as he cleared 1.85m (6' 0.75").
  • Reese Burnside cleared 4.54m (14' 10.75") in the seeded pole vault competition for a 14th place finish.
  • In the unseeded pole vault competition Julius Hobbs recorded a fourth place finish with a mark of 3.94m (12' 11.00").
  • Anderson notched a second top-10 finish in the heptathlon with a time of 9.58 for seventh place in the 60m hurdles. Malachi Stewart was the next highest WLU finisher with a time of 10.65 for 12th place in the event.
  • Jonathan Stout crossed the line fourth in the 1,000m of the heptathlon with a time of 3:04.86, while Anderson secured his third top-10 finish in seventh place with a time of 3:10.12.
  • Philip White rounded out the top-5 in the mile with a personal-best time of 4:20.63.
  • Arthur Williams ran to a season-best time of 51.31 for 20th place in the 400m run.
  • Mikhi Anderson notched a second place finish in the 60m hurdles, running to a time of 8.04. Donovic was the next highest finisher in 13th place with a time of 8.80.
  • Hunter Patterson ran to a top-5 finish the 60m dash as he crossed the line in a time of 6.91 in third place. Lorenzo Ferrera also finished inside the top-10 with a time of 7.03 for eighth place.
  • Francis Toohey and Tavian Richardson posted season-best times in the 800m run with times of 1:59.35 and 1:59:79 respectively for 20th and 21st place.
  • Patterson recorded his second top-5 finish of the day with another third place finish in the 200m dash, crossing the line in a school record time of 21.88. Ferrera added another top-10 time as he finished in 22.59 and seventh place.
  • Anderson finished eighth in the heptathlon with 3,588 points while Huffman was tenth with 2,983 points. 
HOW IT HAPPENED – WLU WOMEN'S TRACK & FIELD
  • Jennifer DiLullo and Grace Brockmeier recorded the top throws in the shot put for West Liberty with marks of 9.80m (32' 2.00") and 9.75m (32' 0.00") for 34th and 35th place respectively.
  • Lacey Dimit recorded a personal-best time of 5:33.23 in the mile for 23rd place.
  • Brookelyn Reynolds ran to a personal-best time of 1:01.42 for an 18th place finish in the 400m run.
  • Marissa Scott and Hope Gestl recorded a pair of top-15 finishes in the 60m hurdles as they ran to times of 10.09 and 10.44 for 12th and 15th place overall.
  • Sierra Lanham notched a season-best time of 7.97 in the 60m dash, finishing 15th in the event. Ky'Ara Ross also ran to a time of 8.10 and finished 20th.
  • Dimit secured her second personal-best time of the day with a time of 2:27.82 and a 25th place finish in the 800m run.
  • Lanham posted a school record-time of 26.10 for 15th place in the 200m dash. Reynolds was the next highest finisher in 27th place with a time of 26.88 in the event.
  • Ally Hicks crossed the line in a season-best time of 11:44.44 in the 3,000m run and 28th place overall.

The West Liberty track & field teams will have their final tune-up prior to the conference championships as they travel to the SPIRE Indoor Collegiate Games on Saturday, February 10, in Geneva, Ohio.
