West Liberty, WV — The West Liberty University men's basketball team has earned the top spot in the 2024 preseason coaches poll, setting high expectations for the Hilltoppers as they prepare for a promising season. This No. 1 ranking follows a series of strong performances in previous seasons, solidifying West Liberty's reputation as a powerhouse in Division II basketball.

The Hilltoppers, known for their high-paced, offense-driven play style, bring back a solid roster of experienced players, coupled with new talent poised to make an immediate impact. Head Coach Ben Howlett, now entering his eighth season at the helm, has guided the program to multiple conference titles and postseason successes, fostering a culture of tenacity and skill development. Under his leadership, West Liberty continues to be one of the most formidable teams in the Mountain East Conference (MEC) and beyond.
