LEBANON, Pa. – The West Liberty University men's golf team finished in a tie for 19th place here Saturday as the 2023 NCAA Division II Atlantic/East Super Regional wrapped up its three-day run at Iron Valley Golf Club.
Coach Thadd Obecny's Hilltoppers carded their best round of the week on Saturday – a 20-over-par 308 – but couldn't sustain a move up the tightly packed leaderboard at the combined regional event. West Liberty and California (Pa.) tied for 19th place with a 54-hole score of 77-over-par 941.
The team championship went to Davis & Elkins, which carded a 28-over-par 892 for the tournament to finish four shots ahead of Fayetteville State (896). Indiana, Pa. (900) was third with Gannon (901) and St. Thomas Aquinas (907) rounding out the top five.
West Liberty senior standout Alex Easthom shot a 1-over-par 73 on Saturday to earn a share of 10th place in the medal standings at 6-over-par 222. Donte Grappuso of St. Thomas Aquinas was the individual regional champion with a three-day total of 4-under-par 212.
