BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. – For the second time this season, West Liberty University freshman Sierra Lanham has been chosen as the Mountain East Conference's Female Track and Field Athlete of the Week.
Lanham was a double-winner for head coach Justin Simpson at this past weekend's WVU Mountaineer Showcase. Continuing her spectacular debut campaign, Lanham broke her own week-old school record in winning Saturday's long jump event with a leap of 5.54 meters (18 feet, 2.25 inches). That was the second-longest long jump in the Atlantic Region this spring.
The talented newcomer also picked up a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash as the Hilltopper track and field squad wrapped up preparations for the upcoming Mountain East Conference Outdoor Championships.
The 2023 MEC Outdoor Championships will be held April 30 to May 2 at Bobcat Stadium on the campus of Frostburg State University.
