Butler Named MEC Player of the Week For Fifth Time

BRIDGEPORT, W.Va. - For the fifth time this season West Liberty's Bryce Butler has been named the Mountain East Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week, announced by the conference office today.

Butler, a junior guard from Latrobe, Pa, scored game-highs in both outings during a 2-0 week for the Hilltoppers. Butler started the week with a 27-point, 9-rebound performance at Glenville State scoring 17 of his points in the final 20 minutes leading a second-half surge to victory. Then, he led a balanced scoring attack with 19 points on 8-of-11 shooting with 7 rebounds and 6 assists in the rout of Concord.

On the week, Butler averaged 23 points and 8 rebounds while shooting 20-for-40 (50%). He also had a pair of steals in each game.

Butler also won Player of the Week honors on November 14, December 12, December 20, and January 9, as well as the D2CIDA National Player of the Week on December 13.

The MEC Player of the Week awards are presented by The Health Plan.

Butler and the Hilltoppers travel to Frostburg State on Wednesday night, then will be back home Saturday at 4 pm versus Fairmont State.
