Kovalcik Sets 200m School Record at Day Two of YSU Mid Major

YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio - Maggie Kovalcik ran a 26.60 in the 200m race setting a school record headlining Day Two of the Youngstown State University Mid Major Invitational for the West Liberty University women's indoor track and field team.

Kovalcik finished in 23rd place out of 107 runners in a race that featured multiple Division I opponents. It is Kovalcik's third school record set this season, along with the 400m and long jump.



The now former record holder, Hailey Carreon (27.10), Sierra Lanham (27.12), Abby Masters (27.42), and Abbe Stackpole (27.81) all were just a second behind finishing in the 27-second range.

Hannah Kemp placed eighth out of 75 runners in the early morning one mile race with a 5:19.51.

Junior Kennedy Martin led the WLU throwers with a 14th place finish in the shot put, posting an 11.34m throw on her second attempt.

A day after setting the school pole vault record, Olivia Combs was the lone Hilltopper in the triple jump and charted a 9.70m leap on her first try placing 19th out of 31 jumpers.

Freshman Zoe Butcher represented the Black and Gold in the high jump and cleared 1.36m on her second jump.

Blake Hull and Savannah Moorehead finished neck and neck in the 800m race with times of 2:42.23 and 2:43.74, respectively. 

West Liberty will have a week off then return to competition on Saturday, February 11 at the Spire Collegiate Indoor Games in Geneva, Ohio.
