PITTSBURGH, Pa. - The West Liberty University women's tennis team spent the past two days at Carnegie Mellon Unviersity battling in the Carnegie Mellon Invitational.
The Hilltoppers took on the Tartans in 12 singles matches and 15 doubles matches. West Liberty picked up three singles wins and four doubles victories.
Elysia Beynon started the invitational off with an 8-4 singles win on Thursday.Â

Evelina Martirosyan rounded out singles play on Friday with singles victories. Arnal battled out a hard-fought 6-5 win, while Martirosyan downed her opponent 8-5.
Arnal and Martirosyan were the only duo for the Black and Gold to secure a win on Thursday as they ended the evening with a tiebreak victory. On Friday, the Hilltoppers went 3-5 in doubles action. This time Arnal teamed up withÂ
Daria Shchoma for a 6-3 win.Â
Gemma Cliffe earned a pair of w's first with Martirosyan (6-2) and then in the final match of the event alongsideÂ
Jaqueline Pena-Aceves (6-3).
West Liberty will be back on the court next weekend to wrap up the fall season at the Fairmont State Invitational.
