WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University Athletic Department has announced the hiring of
Jacob Davey as the institution's Sports Information Director, replacing Don Clegg who formally retired on July 1st.
Clegg played a prominent role in the department since 2008, first handling all the writing for the athletics website and then assuming the Sports Information Director position in 2017. He will remain around WLU Athletics, assisting with game day broadcasts and media coverage.

Lynn Ullom. "Through the interview process he demonstrated a great passion for the profession and I am confident that he will be a worthy addition to the department."
Davey will serve as the primary media contact for WLU's 20 intercollegiate sports. He arrives on the Hilltop after spending the 2021-22 academic year as Assistant Sports Information Director (intern) at his alma mater, the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg. During his time at the NCAA Division III institution, he played a major role in successfully promoting the school's 13 sports, including the school's first-ever Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference women's tennis championships and the inaugural Athletics Hall of Fame class.
A cum laude member of Pitt-Greensburg's Class of 2022, the Canonsburg, Pa. native began his college journey at Marietta (Ohio) before transferring closer to home. He spent one year as a student assistant in the Marietta sports information department and was a sports information student assistant for two years at Pitt-Greensburg before moving up to the Assistant Sports Information Director (intern) position.
Aside from his administrative duties, Davey competed on the baseball team at Pitt-Greensburg and earned back-to-back All-AMCC honors. He was inducted into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National College Athletic Honor Society his senior year. Davey is a member of the National Wiffle League Association Tournament Host Committee and served as Tournament Director for the 2020 National Championships.
Davey assumed his new role at WLU on July 5.
