WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – A group of West Liberty University student-athletes will take part in one of the biggest sporting events of the year, as Hilltoppers from multiple programs partner with Allied Universal Event Services to work the 2026 NFL Draft in Pittsburgh.
Student-athletes representing men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track & field, cross country, and men's soccer will assist with event operations at Acrisure Stadium and surrounding areas during the three-day draft.
The group will serve in a variety of roles, including security and event services, helping with access control, monitoring entry points, conducting bag checks, and ensuring a safe and smooth experience for fans attending the nationally televised event.
Beyond the unique experience of working a premier professional sports event, the opportunity also provides a direct benefit to West Liberty athletics. Funds earned through the partnership will go back to support the university's athletic programs.
"This is a great opportunity for our student-athletes to be part of a major national event while also giving back to their teams," said WLU Director of Athletics Brad Forshey. "It's a win-win that provides both real-world experience and support for our programs."
Allied Universal Event Services, a leading provider of event staffing and security, is staffing positions throughout the NFL Draft, with shifts—including overnight roles—offering competitive pay of up to $19 per hour.
For the participating Hilltoppers, the experience offers more than just financial support. It provides hands-on exposure to large-scale event operations, teamwork in a professional setting, and the chance to be part of one of the NFL's marquee events.
The 2026 NFL Draft is expected to draw thousands of fans to Pittsburgh, making it one of the largest sporting events in the region this year—and West Liberty student-athletes will be right in the middle of the action.
