West Liberty's Pettit Earns 1st-Team All-MEC Honors

Hilltoppers' Ramby Repeats as 2nd-Team All-Conference Pick

3/29/2022 9:18:00 PM

CHARLESTON, W.Va. – West Liberty University senior women's golf standout Kailey Pettit was a first-team selection here Tuesday when the Mountain East Conference announced the 2022 All-Conference Teams at the conclusion of the MEC Spring Classic.
A fifth-year senior from Glen Dale, W.Va., Pettit clinched her first-team berth on Tuesday by shooting the lowest score of the final round to earn a share of second place in the medal standings at the MEC Spring Classic at Edgewood Country Club.
The All-MEC Men's and Women's Golf Teams are based on the players' scores at the 54-hole MEC Championship Tournament in the fall and the 36-hole MEC Spring Classic. Players must post scores from all five rounds to qualify for All-MEC consideration.
This marks the fifth consecutive season that Pettit has been named to the All-Mountain East Conference Team and she was not the Hilltoppers' only repeat honoree.
Alexis Ramby, a second-year freshman from Lebanon, Ohio, earned second-team All-MEC honors for the second straight season. Ramby was 11th in the medal chase at the MEC Spring Classic after posting a Top 20 finish in the MEC Championships.
Joining Pettit on the 2022 All-MEC First Team were Elizabeth Bickar of Glenville State, Beatrice Dietz of Charleston, Grace Halcrow of Glenville State, Emily Holzopfel of Wheeling and Lucrezia Speranza of Davis and Elkins. Holzopfel was the MEC Player of the Year and Speranza claimed MEC Freshman of the Year honors.
In addition to Ramby, the second team unit included Charleston's McKenzie Dietz, Glenville State's Avalon Green, Davis & Elkins' Dorothy Romanek, Charleston's Victoria Witouski and Olivia Zampedro of Wheeling. Wheeling's Sue Vail was the MEC Coach of the Year.
