CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's golf team finished third and senior standout
Kailey Pettit earned a share of runner-up honors in the medal chase as the Mountain East Conference Women's Spring Classic concluded here Tuesday at Edgewood Country Club.

Shane Rice's Hilltoppers used a strong final round on Tuesday to take over sole possession of third place in the team standings. Charleston took the team title with a 671 score over the 36-hole event. Glenville State was second at 675 with West Liberty (700) in third. Davis & Elkins (708) and Wheeling (710) rounded out the top five.
Pettit, a four-time All-MEC selection, was the only woman to break 80 on Tuesday at the challenging 5,856-yard, par-72 course on the outskirts of Charleston. Her 7-over-par 79 in the final round lifted her into a tie for runner-up medal honors with Glenville State's Lizzie Bickhan and Emily Holzopfel of Wheeling at 21-over-par 165.
Charleston's Beatrice Dietz finished first with a two-day total of 160.
The WLU women return home to host the West Liberty Invitational April 4-5 on the Palmer Course at Oglebay Resort.
