WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. - The West Liberty University women's team was represented in the latest edition of the NCAA Division II ITA Collegiate Tennis National and Regional Rankings sponsored by Tennis-Point.
Emma Arnal earned a spot on the national and Atlantic Region singles rankings along with recognition on the regional doubles ranking with
Gemma Cliffe. Also on the regional singles list was
Evelina Martirosyan.
Arnal came in at #50 in the national rankings for her first national ranking of her career. The sophomore from Seysses-Saves, France went 7-2 in the #1 singles spot for the Hilltoppers this fall and made a semifinal appearance in the ITA Atlantic Regional Championships. She also was tabbed 4th in the regional rankings.
The duo of Arnal and Cliffe was ranked eighth in the Atlantic Region after a 4-1 fall season that included a trip to the quarterfinals at the ITA regionals.
Martirosyan went 6-1 this fall in singles play for West Liberty to obtain a #8 rank in the Atlantic Region. She won her first three matches at the ITA regional event in September before bowing out in the quarterfinals.
National Rankings include the Top 50 singles players and Top 25 doubles teams, while the Regional Rankings include the Top 20 singles players and Top 10 doubles teams.
The Hilltoppers' spring schedule will be released later this winter.
