OBERLIN, Ohio – The West Liberty University women's tennis team wrapped up a successful run at the Oberlin (Ohio) Invitational on Saturday.
Coach
Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers spent Friday and Saturday competing against some of the top NCAA Division II and Division III programs in the region and several members of the squad made strong impressions.
Returning sophomore
Jaqueline Pena-Aceves and freshman
Kavya Singh went undefeated in their three singles matches. Two other freshmen,
Emma Arnal and
Evelina Martirosyan, joined returning All-Region sophomore
Gemma Cliffe with 2-1 records in singles play.
All four West Liberty doubles pairings – Cliffe/Arnal, Pena/Martirosyan, Natalia Valencia/Daria Shchroma and
Elysia Beynon/
Katie Loader – posted 1-2 marks for the two-day event.
Next up for the Hilltopper netters is a trip to Millersville, Pa. on Sept. 25-27 for the ITA Atlantic Region Fall Championships.
