FAIRMONT, W.Va. – West Liberty University freshman Lindsay Fries has earned national recognition from the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) following a strong performance in Saturday's match at nationally-ranked Fairmont State.
A 5-7 freshman base from Parkersburg (W.Va.) South High School, Fries was one of two student-athletes nationwide to earn honorable mention for the NCATA Specialist of the Week Award.
Fries helped the Black and Gold set a pair of heat records in Saturday's meet. She was part of the Inversion Pyramid cohort that posted an impressive 9.80 score and also played a key role in WLU's 9.75 tally in the Open Pyramid. Fries competed as a base in both heats as Coach Kelsey Kyle's Hilltoppers continued to rewrite the WLU record books.
Fries and her teammates are off this weekend but return to the mat on Feb. 28 when they host Glenville State in a Mountain East Conference dual. First event is set for 6 p.m. at the ASRC.
