WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team dropped a 5-2 decision to West Chester (Pa.) here Saturday in a non-conference match at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
The visiting Golden Rams (7-4) gained an early edge with a hard-fought doubles point and Coach
Heather Gallagher's host Hilltoppers (12-5) couldn't fight all the way back in singles play.
After splitting the No. 1 and No. 3 doubles matches, West Chester pulled out a 6-4 decision at No. 2 doubles to take a 1-0 lead into singles play.
Laura Huwe put West Liberty on the board quickly with a 6-2 6-1 romp at No. 3 singles and
Luisa Agudelo came storming back from an opening-set loss at No. 5 singles to dominate the second set and prevailed in the superbreaker.
Unfortunately for the Black and Gold, none of the other players could break through and West Chester came away with the win.
The West Liberty women return to Mountain East Conference action on Wednesday when they host West Virginia Wesleyan at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
