WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team remained perfect in Mountain East Conference play here Wednesday with a 7-0 shutout of Shepherd at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
Coach
Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers (11-4, 4-0) took control right from the start, taking the three doubles matches from the Rams (2-6, 0-3) in dominant fashion before running away to straight-set wins in all six singles matches.
Raissa Wagner and
Anita Ponti notched a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles while the Hilltoppers' No. 2 pairing of
Carleyah McLean and
Luisa Agudelo pitched a 6-0 shutout.
Laura Huwe and Alex Olson also posted a 6-0 shutout at No. 3 doubles as the Black and Gold cruised.
The Hilltoppers were just as dominant in singles play, losing two games or fewer in five of the six matches.
The West Liberty women return to the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex on Saturday for a non-conference match against West Chester (Pa.).
