HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team picked up its sixth win in as many matches here Tuesday evening, coasting to a rain-delayed 5-2 victory against Edinboro at the PTR Spring Tennis Fest.
Coach
Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers (6-0) won the No. 1 and No. 2 doubles matches and collected a forfeit at No. 3 doubles to claim the doubles point against the winless Fighting Scots (0-8).
Edinboro made things interesting with straight-set wins at No. 1 singles and No. 2 singles but wins at the Nos. 3, 4 and 5 singles spots along with a forfeit at No. 6 singles secured the win for the Black and Gold.
Raissa Wagner and
Anita Ponti combined for the 7-5 win at No. 1 doubles while
Carleyah McLean and
Luisa Agudelo prevailed at No. 2 doubles. McLean, Agudelo and
Laura Huwe earned straight-set singles wins for the Hilltoppers.
West Liberty is scheduled to take on Catawba (N.C.) in a morning match on Wednesday.
