MAYFIELD VILLAGE, Ohio – The West Liberty University women's tennis team remained unbeaten in Mountain East Conference play here Friday with a 5-2 victory against Notre Dame (Ohio) at the Mayfield Village Racquet Club.
Coach
Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers (9-4, 3-0) won the doubles point and took advantage of two forfeit wins in singles action to finish off the Falcons (1-9, 0-4).
Raissa Wagner and
Anita Ponti rolled to a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles which combined with a forfeit victory at No. 3 doubles to give West Liberty the doubles point.
Wagner notched a straight-set win at No. 1 singles and
Laura Huwe defeated Emily Hofsess, 6-2 6-1, at No. 3 singles to give WLU two more points. The forfeit wins at No. 5 and No. 6 singles closed out the scoring.
The Lady Hilltoppers step out of conference play on Sunday when they travel to Greensburg, Pa. for a 3 p.m. match against Seton Hill.
