WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team won its fifth straight match and remained unbeaten in Mountain East Conference action here Saturday with a 7-2 victory against UVa-Wise at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
Coach
Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers (5-1, 3-0) took control early by sweeping all three doubles matches before taking four of six singles matches from the Cavaliers (3-7, 2-4) to wrap things up.
Maurine Oudart and
Thais Mendez notched an 8-3 nod at No. 1 doubles for the Black and Gold with the No. 2 doubles tandem of
Laura Huwe and
Alaina Pauley breezing to an 8-2 win. Kate Pinchuk and
Ana Berbel didn't lose a game in posting an 8-0 whitewash at No. 3 doubles.
Huwe, Mendez, Berbel and Pinchuk all scored straight-set wins in singles play to put the final points on the board for the hosts.
The West Liberty women hit the MEC road on Wednesday for a 3:30 p.m. match at Fairmont State.
