WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team rolled to an 8-1 victory against Notre Dame here Saturday in a Mountain East Conference match at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.
Coach
Heather Gallagher's Hilltoppers (3-1, 2-0) took control early by sweeping the three doubles matches and never looked back, taking five of the six singles matches to keep the visiting Falcons (0-4, 0-3) winless in league play.
Laura Huwe and
Thais Mendez teamed up for an 8-4 win at No. 1 doubles with
Ana Berbel and
Alaina Pauley also turning in an 8-4 nod at No. 2 doubles. The pairing of Kate Pinchuk and
Makayla Schaefer coasted to an 8-2 victory at No. 3 doubles to send the Black and Gold into singles play on a roll.
Mendez, Berbel, Pinchuk and Pauley all came through with singles wins with
Lisa Nachtwey's 6-1 6-1 decision at No. 6 doubles putting the final points on the board for the hosts.
The Lady Hilltoppers head to Buckhannon on Wednesday for a 3 p.m. match at West Virginia Wesleyan.
