West Liberty Tennis Shuts Out Concord

ATHENS, W.Va. – The West Liberty University men's tennis team finished off its southern swing with a flourish here Sunday, rolling to a 9-0 shutout of Concord on the Mountain Lions' home courts.
Coach Sam McCullough's Hilltoppers (11-4, 4-0) made short work of the winless hosts as Concord (0-4, 0-3) had only five players available. West Liberty won all five singles matches and both doubles matches while picking up default points at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles.
Mountain East Conference Player of the Week Baptiste Perrin took a straight-set win at No. 1 singles and teamed with Santiago Gutierrez for an easy decision at No. 1 doubles. Matt Tully and Luke Flanagan teamed up for a shutout win at No. 2 doubles with Tully adding a 6-0 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.
Gutierrez breezed to a straight-set win at No. 2 singles, Martin Moncayo coasted through his match at No. 3 singles and Pablo Cimorra picked up the final point of the day for the visitors with a 6-0 6-0 whitewash of William Diz at No. 5 singles.
The West Liberty men return to action on Wednesday with a 4 p.m. match at Fairmont State.
