MILLERSVILLE, Pa. – A winless Millersville men's tennis team was no match for West Liberty's regionally-ranked powerhouse Friday afternoon as the MEC champion Hilltoppers rolled to a 9-0 shutout victory in non-conference action at the McComsey Tennis Courts.
Coach Sam McCullough's Black and Gold (16-2), which checked in at No. 3 in the latest set of NCAA Division II Atlantic Region rankings, didn't lose a game in sweeping all three singles matches at love to take a 3-0 lead into singles play. Ponder and Gutierrez earned the win at No. 1 doubles with Moncayo and Perrin teaming up at No. 2 doubles and Pablo Cimorra combining with Tully for the shutout at No. 3 doubles. The West Liberty men close out their regular season slate on Saturday with an 11 a.m. match at West Chester (Pa.).
