WEST LIBERTY, W.Va. – The West Liberty University women's tennis team squared its West Virginia Conference record at 1-1 on Sunday, pulling out a hard-fought 5-4 decision against Shepherd in a match at the Edgar Martin Tennis Complex.

The Hilltoppers (1-3, 1-1) used their strength at the top of the lineup to send the Rams home on the short end of the scoreboard. West Liberty won at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles to grab an early lead before putting the Rams away with victories at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 3 singles.

Quintana, the 2009 WVIAC Player of the Year, gritted out a marathon win at No. 2 singles, outlasting Brittany Moreland by a 6-2, 4-6, 7-5 count.

Emma Windsor breezed to victory at No. 3 singles with a 6-2, 6-1 decision against Christina Hammond after combining with Ali Prather for an 8-4 triumph at No. 2 doubles.
